How to Safely Get The Most From Your Candle

Before Lighting

  • Remove all packaging before use.

  • Before each burn, always trim the wick to 10mm. Long or crooked wicks can cause uneven burning, dripping or flaring.

  • Keep the wax pool clear of all debris including wick trimmings and matches at all times.

While Burning:

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.

  • Never leave a burning candle with the lid on the jar.

  • Burn candle out of the reach of children and pets.

  • Always leave at least 10cm between burning candles.

  • Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire.

  • The container may get hot during use.

  • Protect surfaces that may be damaged by heat or dripping wax.

  • Do not move a burning or recently extinguished candle.

  • Burn away from droughts.

  • Keep wax pool free of matches and other debris to avoid flaring.

  • Extinguish carefully if the flame becomes enlarged - do not blow out or use water.

  • Never allow the flame to contact the sides of the container.

  • Candles may produce some soot - to minimise this, regularly trim the wick to 10mm.

  • Extinguish carefully when at least 6mm of wax remains.

When extinguishing a candle:

  • Use a candle snuffer to extinguish a candle. It is the safest way to prevent hot wax from splattering.

  • Never use water to extinguish a candle. Water can cause the hot wax to splatter and might brake the glass container.

  • Make sure the candle is completely out and the wick ember is no longer glowing before leaving the room.

  • Never cover the container with the lid when the candle flame is freshly extinguished.
