How to Safely Get The Most From Your Candle
Before Lighting
-
Remove all packaging before use.
-
Before each burn, always trim the wick to 10mm. Long or crooked wicks can cause uneven burning, dripping or flaring.
-
Keep the wax pool clear of all debris including wick trimmings and matches at all times.
While Burning:
-
Never leave a burning candle unattended.
-
Never leave a burning candle with the lid on the jar.
-
Burn candle out of the reach of children and pets.
-
Always leave at least 10cm between burning candles.
-
Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire.
-
The container may get hot during use.
-
Protect surfaces that may be damaged by heat or dripping wax.
-
Do not move a burning or recently extinguished candle.
-
Burn away from droughts.
-
Keep wax pool free of matches and other debris to avoid flaring.
-
Extinguish carefully if the flame becomes enlarged - do not blow out or use water.
-
Never allow the flame to contact the sides of the container.
-
Candles may produce some soot - to minimise this, regularly trim the wick to 10mm.
-
Extinguish carefully when at least 6mm of wax remains.
When extinguishing a candle:
-
Use a candle snuffer to extinguish a candle. It is the safest way to prevent hot wax from splattering.
-
Never use water to extinguish a candle. Water can cause the hot wax to splatter and might brake the glass container.
-
Make sure the candle is completely out and the wick ember is no longer glowing before leaving the room.
-
Never cover the container with the lid when the candle flame is freshly extinguished.
